Content: Ok this isn't an actual story but it has to do with the story forum.
Anyway I want to know if it's just me or everyone else agrees, but it seems that every time someone posts a good story they write one or two chapters then they abandon the story.
So is it just me or does everyone else agree.
Let me know.

Certainly you are correct, but I'm wondering if this sort of thread will (or even should) do anything at all to correct the problem.
When a person posts one or two chapters of a story, he or she is under ZERO obligation to continue. They are doing it 100% voluntarily, with no expectations of quality or completeness.
This freedom is necessary. Who are we to demand continuation or completion?
This is a playground, not a workplace.
People could, of course, post nothing of their stories; deny you the reading of even a first chapter. Instead, they at least TRY. They start something. We must thank them for their efforts and then simply accept it if they choose not to continue; end of story.
Threads like this may serve to cause writers to not even attempt that crucial first chapter, if they think they will get berated for not finishing.
Perhaps we could all be mature enough to simply let authors know we love their work, appreciate their efforts, and stop demanding they finish what they started.
Let them play their own games at their own speed, without complaint.
Unless, of course, you are paying them. Which, of course, you aren't.

Yea I know it's not required to finish the story, but I mean most of the time if it's the beginning chapters they have cliffhangers and then every one who reads it replies with "please write more" and "that was really good" and then, they reply with I don't think I'm going to continue the story and you get left with a cliffhanger.
And I know I'm kind of ranting at this point but I mean if your not going to finish it don't start it. Because it was your story idea so you know somewhat how the story was going to go so your not left on a cliffhanger while on the other hand everyone out there who liked your story is stuck on the cliffhanger. I just think it's kind of not fair to the other people on the site.

As someone who has began writing several stories and never reached their conclusion (though I am actively trying to remedy that!), I feel your pain. And I can bet I'm not the only author who sometimes starts writing without knowing where the story is going. Thus leading to writer's block. Thus leading to abandonment.
And sometimes jobs, relationships, or just loss of interest get in the way.

Yea I know like your prom in diapers story which I have seen on other websites further into the story. * whispers "finish the story please". So I know you would understand and I know a lot of people do to. And to every one who's posted to this tread I'm not trying to tell people who don't finish stories to finish them. I'm just simple asking if any one else has noticed that reoccurring theme.

You know what's even more annoying? Putting time and effort into writing a decent story (one that even pays attention to spelling, grammar and format) then posting it and virtually nobody appears to care about it. I've had some response on True Colors, the first story I've posted here, but the sequel got nearly zero response. That is what annoys me, personally. Like ICKaraokeGirl said, writers (usually) aren't getting paid, but when we make an effort and come up with something decent (and I'm not talking about a 400-word fap story here), it seems few people care - or, at least, few people comment.
FYI, I've written two more stories in the meantime, which I've posted on FurAffinity and SoFurry (as I'm mostly a furry writer), but I decided against posting them here, because I did not expect to get much response. I might change my mind, depending on where this thread is going...
I do agree, however: there's an awful lot of stories out there that were never finished. Restart, Inc. is one that immediately comes to my mind. One of the first babyfur-themed stories I ever read, and I still like it a lot. It's a shame the writer never finished it. The same goes for some stories by CS_Fox. He's known to write stories, but never finish about half them. Too bad...
This phenomenon is actually why I chose to complete a story before I start posting it. I've written stories I'd update per chapter, while the story wasn't done. This wouldn't allow me to make changes, so any corrections would have to be made in the story. Makes it sound cheap, it's easy to contradict oneself and it's harder to get more or deeper layers into the story.

Yea you should post them on this site just because it's furry doesn't mean know one will read it.
I personally don't get the whole furry thing, but I don't care in a story if it's a good story it's a good story period it doesn't matter what it's about.
