You get gently woken up by the sunlight coming through the window and filtered by the curtains, hugging your favorite plushie and sucking on your pacifier. you stay in that half asleep state, enjoying the sensory comforts you are surrounded by. you feel the diaper around your waist, heavy, thick, keeping your legs apart
As you get accustomed to being awake, falling out of sleepiness, you feel your diaper getting warm, you are wetting it without realizing, and it's fine. you abandon the warm hug of your plushie just for a second, you stretch your arms and legs, only to recover your soft friend. you don't want him to feel lonely.
That's when you finally, softly, slowly open your eyes.
The sunlight is not too strong but it's still bright enough to cut into the otherwise dark room. its beams, reflect on the plastic of your crib toys, making them shine their bright colors vividly. you hear a low warm voice from the other side of the door, so low you can't tell what it's really saying, it probably comes from the kitchen.
"Mommy is on the phone" you think. as you rub your eyes. as you do, you notice the mobile floating above your head, it's too high for you to reach it,, you know that, but you still extend your hand to it, closing one eye and playing with the perspective, squishing the small hanging smiley sun with your fingers.
After a bit of playing you hear a loud sound from outside, you raise your head to look out the window, it's all fine, it was probably someone closing a car's door a bit too hard. That's when your mind goes to the toy box and its infinite collections of untold stories waiting for you to give them the gift of realization... "What will Tommy do today?" you wander thinking of that LEGO mini figure you made the main character of the play mat.
you grew tired of laying there, you feel thirsty. Unfortunately the bottle that mommy left you for the night was emptied in the first 5 minutes you were laid in your crib the evening before. The sad part is that your crib is locked now, the bars that you could try to climb over, those that kept you safe from falling out of your cozy soft bed, were now annoying limitations. but you know better than climbing over them.
you kneel up with your head peeking above the bars, looking at the door from where your savior will make its usual joyful entrance. If you could still read the clock you would have an idea of how long your mommy will be taking. but you can only stare at that strange plate with numbers and spinning lines hanging on the wall clueless of what time it is.
After what seemed like an eternity you grew tired of waiting, your thirst is getting more insistent. you decide to call Mommy to let you out, but as you raise your butt from the mattress you feel a fast weight coming out your bottom and landing in your diaper. Yeah, that is happening more and more often, but you still don't like it.
you try to call out for mommy, that's when you remember your pacifier, still securely snug in your mouth, you spit it out, knowing the lanyard that links it to your shirt will keep it from getting lost. you call for mommy again, and keep doing it for a bit.
she finally appears at the door, smiling, and cheering you up. "Hey there, little one! already awake?". you nod and make grabby hands. "oh, it smells like someone made a stinky! who was it, you or your little friend?" she says checking the back of your diaper. "Someone laid an egg for mommy? good baby, let's get you changed and ready for the day!" She adds lowering the bars and getting you to your changing table, just a few steps from your crib.
she puts your pacifier back in your mouth, you tend to react badly with cold wet wipes and she knows it, that's why you secured with a chest strap until she's done. while she proceeds she keeps you entertained telling you the pans for the day "now let's get you dressed for the day, little one, today you meet your new babysitter!" you forgot about that, today is the day! "So now let's get you ready and let's put some baba in your tummy, shall we?, shall we?" she continued, with a playful voice. landing the last tape on your new, fresh diaper on.
you hope this babysitter won't be mean to you, you sure are not the normal baby everyone expects to see. Will you get to eat candies? Skip nap time? maybe play video games for more than an hour a day? It would be nice.
on the other hand you'll miss mommy, she told you countless times already, she has to work. she'll be home as often as possible and she has. She worked from home for 3 months already, but this time she has to be away for a week or two. It's going to be an interesting period.
"one last thing, kiddo" she says as she chooses your clothes for the day. "I'm taking the cage keys with me. so you don't bother your new babysitter with silly worries." she continued while dressing you in a Pokemon shirt and shorts that didn't cover the waistband of your diaper.
"damn! This week was supposed to be the time she would get my cage off! it's been 3 months!" you think. knowing there's nothing you can do now.
That's when you and mommy hear the doorbell ring. That's it, there is no going back now.
